New this school year, parents and guardians who want to receive all messages sent from your child’s school need to subscribe and opt-in. It will only take a minute to ensure you don’t miss out on important information.
Due to federal legislation (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, or CASL), parents need to subscribe online if you want to continue receiving electronic messages on “commercial” school topics such as school fees, field trip costs, book sales, picture days, fun lunches and more.
Starting on Oct. 1, if you have not subscribed online, you will stop receiving these types of messages from your school and the Calgary Board of Education. You will still receive messages on non-commercial topics such as class projects, parent-teacher conferences and student absences.
To subscribe, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/subscribe. Be sure to provide your primary email address on file at your school (i.e. the email where you receive school messages and that you use to log into your My CBE Account, if applicable).
In addition, if you want to be able to receive any text messages sent by your school or the Calgary Board of Education, you also need to opt-in for texts.
To opt-in for text messages, use your cell phone to text the word YES to the six-digit number 724665.
Or, you can simply reply YES (or Y) on Sept. 1 when you receive an automated text message from our system, asking you to opt-in.
For more information about subscribing or opting in, visit www.cbe.ab.ca/subscribe. If you need to update your contact information, please tell your school.
