Update | In-Person Classes Resume May-25 | May 19, 2021 3:22 PM

May. 19, 2021

Dear parents/guardians,

The Alberta government confirmed today that students in Grades K-12 will resume in-person classes on Tuesday, May 25. Students enrolled in CBe-learn or Hub online learning will continue learning online.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all health and safety measures continue to be followed at our schools. These include handwashing, face mask guidelines, physical distancing (where possible) and enhanced cleaning protocols.

It is also important that parents continue to report any positive cases to their schools. Please note that even if your child has already been vaccinated, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has not changed its process regarding isolation and quarantine expectations at this time. If your child is identified as a close contact of a positive case, these expectations will still apply.

We will closely monitor our schools and staffing levels to ensure that schools are able to maintain in-person operations, and will continue to make future decisions based on this information.

We remind everyone entering a CBE school they must monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Please complete the Alberta Health daily checklist each day prior to attending school. If your child is feeling unwell, they must remain at home. As well, if they have had a COVID-19 test, they must not return to school until they get results, even if they are feeling better.

I know that these transitions have been difficult for our students, families and staff members, and I sincerely hope that there will be no further disruptions for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.

As always, please connect with your child’s school if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Christopher Usih

Chief Superintendent of Schools
