2024-25 school calendar has been finalized and posted.
The first day of school for students is:
Guidelines used to inform the creation of instructional calendars are based on current legislation, provincial examinations and feedback. The calendars include a minimum of 181 instructional days and 10 system-wide days for schools to schedule parent-teacher conferences, professional development, and other organizational days.
CBE did consider the feedback to start school after the Labour Day long weekend. However, with the addition of the fall break and timing of January diploma exam schedules (set by Alberta Education) it was not possible to meet the minimum number of instructional days and balance semesters in high school across the school year. tentative calendar for 2025-26 has also been posted and is subject to change.

system calendar page or your school’s website for more information.
