May. 23, 2023
On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, our Spanish Bilingual Schools ranging from elementary to high schools, came together at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium to present and celebrate the Spanish language, culture and music in our presentation of Que Pasa. The ten Spanish bilingual schools were represented by approximately 750 students, who sang, danced and played in the schools’ bands performing and celebrating various genres of music, ranging from folkloric/traditional to contemporary styles. Students performed in front of parents, families, and special guests, including our Chief Superintendent, Christopher Usih and other Educational Directors. Students showcased a variety of music representing Spain and other Latin American countries.
We extend our extreme gratitude to all school teachers and administrators involved in the planning and organization of this celebration. This event would not have been possible without the countless hours and collaborations between schools, teachers and leaders who were part of the organizing committee. A special thank you to the Calgary Board of Education’s Communication Services for capturing this event in video and photographs to share with everyone involved.
