Board of Trustees Ratifies New Collective Agreement with CBE Staff Association

​​​ The Board of Trustees of the Calgary Board of Education and the CBE Staff Association (SA) have ratified a new collective agreement.

“This agreement acknowledges the hard work, dedication, and contributions of Staff Association and Professional Support Staff members,” said Laura Hack, Chair, Calgary Board of Education. “It is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring that SA members are valued for their integral role in our schools and service units.”

The collective agreement covers more than 5,400 support staff employed by the CBE, encompassing roles from lunch supervisors and education assistants to IT analysts, administrative assistants and psychologists, each of whom play important roles in supporting CBE students to be successful.

“We are proud to have ratified our agreements with record participation by our membership,” said Rae-Ann Royal, Chairperson, CBE Staff Association. “We worked diligently to address key concerns of our members, who are fundamental to the smooth running of schools and the success of CBE students. It's a reflection of our collective commitment to creating a work environment that values and supports every individual's contribution to our educational community.”

The new collective agreement includes a 1.25% salary increase retroactive to Sept. 1, 2022. SA members will also receive an additional 1.5% wage increase, effective Feb. 1, 2024. The agreement also makes improvements to professional development opportunities, work-life balance measures and strengthens job security provisions.
