CBE Celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day

​​​CALGARY, AB. – Three northwest Calgary Board of Education schools, in partnership with the City of Calgary, will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on Friday, June 21. The schools are hosting a community celebration that will include student presentations, cultural performances and games. The schools will also share their renewed Truth and Reconciliation commitments.

Participating Schools

Catherine Nichols Gunn School – Grades K-6
Sir John A. Macdonald School – Grades 6 to 9
John G. Diefenbaker High School – Grades 10-12

News media are invited to attend the celebration. School principals and selected students will be available for interviews, and all attendees will be available for photos.

Event Details

Date: Friday, June 21, 2024
Time: 1 to 3 p.m.
Place: The Infinity Garden between John G. Diefenbaker High School & Sir John A. Macdonald School - 6620 4 St. NW​
Parking is available in a free student lot between John G. Diefenbaker High School & Sir John A. Macdonald School.

The formal event will begin at 1 p.m. with Elder Patricia Danard's blessing and smudge, followed by student and school presentations.
