Help Wanted: CBE Hiring Administrative Secretaries and Office Assistants

A​pril Cribbie is a familiar face at Lord Shaughnessy High School where she works as an administrative assistant.

​​​The Calgary Board of Education is looking to fill a series of administrative roles on its casual roster with people who value flexible work and who wish to contribute to student and system success every day.

Prospective CBE employees can now a​​pply for dozens of Administrative Secretary and Office Assistant positions. Both roles offer a competitive hourly rate, flexible working hours and room for career advancement.

“Administrative professionals are often the first point of contact for students and their families, and they thrive at creating positive experiences with the CBE. Recognizing the importance of this role, we are looking to replenish our casual roster with people who are committed to supporting public education,” said Karey Reilly, director, Talent Management. “These are great openings from Day One, and they offer a springboard to additional opportunities and personal growth.”

Successful hires will join a team of on-call staff who cover staff absences and work on short-term projects. Roster staff enjoy the flexibility of working in schools and departments full-time or part-time with a minimum commitment of two days availability per week.

April Cribbie has worked as a casual School Secretary Office Assistant, and she enjoys the flexibility of working on the CBE’s casual roster because it gives her the best of all worlds.

The current hiring period runs until Oct. 31, 2022. The CBE reviews its casual rosters on a monthly basis and will continue to post when there is an ongoing need for casual employees.
