CBE Honours Substitute Teachers in Appreciation Week

Mar. 11, 2024

The Calgary Board of Education is celebrating Substitute Teachers' Appreciation Week — March 11 to 15 — as a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of substitute teachers. These educators, who step up to serve in classrooms across the city, enrich the lives of students with their talent and enthusiasm.

Substitute teachers are known for their ability to quickly adapt to various classroom settings, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative teaching methods. This adaptability and commitment are crucial in contributing to the overall learning experiences for students.

As the week unfolds, it's an opportune time for students, parents and fellow educators to express their thanks and acknowledge the impact substitute teachers have on the educational journey of students. Showing gratitude requires acts of kindness, such as acknowledgments, handwritten notes, or inviting substitute teachers to share lunch. These small yet heartfelt actions make a difference.

The CBE looks forward to fostering a continued supportive relationship with substitute teachers, acknowledging their indispensable role in shaping the future of education.
