Ship to Shore connects CBE students with the Royal Canadian Navy, HMCS Calgary and HMCS Tecumseh. The Ship to Shore is a program that piloted in the 2019-2020 school year with 3 select schools: Douglasdale, McKenzie Lake, and Buffalo Rubbing Stone. Even during the pandemic, the program was able to continue because of the virtual connection. Students learned about life on the ship and being a part of the
Royal Canadian Navy. The sailors taught them about the value and essential work of our Canadian Navy through sharing their personal stories and answering questions that students submitted. Thanks to our passionate teachers and families who were involved and brought enthusiasm to leading learning through the lens of the Ship to Shore Program and connecting with experts in the Navy.
“It's a fun way for students to engage with all their senses while they learn about subjects like culture, geography, science, and technology."
The Honourable Lois E. Mitchell, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta
“This had a profound impact on our students and connected directly to our curriculum on Global Citizenship."
Christopher Blais, Buffalo Rubbing Stone School
