John Ware students shine at business fair and cooking demonstration

May. 06, 2015

In April, Grade 8 students at John Ware School participated in a business fair. This was a cross-curricular project where students created a product.  They then conducted market research and created an effective marketing campaign to sell their products to staff, students, and community members. All profits from the business fair went to the Alberta Children's Hospital.

This project allows students to demonstrate leadership, entrepreneurial skills, and creativity. Watch this CTV News Calgary clip featuring this business fair.

On the same day, John Ware students were also cooking and talking about nutritious meals anyone can make. This is part of a foods program at the school, led by teacher Gemma Rae. The program teaches students how to make healthy meals and enjoy the art of cooking. All produce was donated by RedHat Co-op.

Both the business fair and cooking demonstration were featured on CTV News Morning Live and on Shaw TV.
